The Civics began as the vocal group for Ricky & the Chips. They later fronted the Collections band (see Collections & Civics). Vocalists included Gary Coooper, Robert ‘P-Nut’ Johnson, James Gyant, Elliott Barnes… Kelton Addison (percussion)… The Civics vocalists as well as drummer ‘Bop’ went on to form the R&B/funk group Madhouse.
In June 1971 the Civics and backing group became known as the 15th Chapter.
