Group originated as Changor & Company led by percussionist Bob Changor. Bob split off and formed a new group while this group became known as Brass Rail.

Brass Rail played all the major clubs in the Baltimore / D.C. area. The full-time group played the Golden Horn as house band for an entire year, also played Sweeney’s, the Other Place, Flaming Pit, Mimmie Jr.’s, Quarter Deck. They were long time house band at the Hollywood Palace on Route 40 West. The group released an independent single version of the Hollies song “He Ain’t Heavy.” With producer Jimmy Bishop they released a single on Buddah 248 “Do the Penguin” (parts 1 & 2).

Members included Santo Mirabile (sax ex-Dynamics, Chaumonts), ‘Johnny G.’ Goodmuth (drums), Leroy James (keyboards, vocals), Norm Seifert (guitar, vocals), Larry Guderjohn (guitar, vocals ex-Gigs), Gary Malvaso (guitar), and George ‘Doc’ Dochterman (bass, vocals ex-Lurch). Goodmuth was replaced with Glen Schoonover (drums).

Mirabile later played in backing bands for Patti LaBelle, Damon Harris, and the Baltimore group Glass House. Goodmuth was later with Gordon Michaels Band, Rock Island, Paper Cup. Dochterman went on to Abilene Road House. Leroy aka ‘Roy’ James and Schoonover later joined Dan Patch.
