Eddie’s daughter Mary Ann Beres Szymanik wrote to share that she “worked for the Musician’s Union for more than 25 years, as well as having been a dedicated “nightclubber” in the late 70’s and 80’s.”

She wrote that Mr. Beres “was not only involved in music in the Baltimore area from the early 1940’s through the early 1990’s, he gave many young musicians and groups their start by hiring and recommending them before they became popular. This was quite evident when more than 250 musicians visited the funeral home the day of his viewing in 2001.”

“He played in area clubs in the 50’s and early 60’s. had a local radio show on WSID in the early 50’s, was house band for Martin’s Caterers, did concerts and special events all over Baltimore, as well as extensive society work (e.g. the wedding of then Vice President Ford’s son). The Eddie Beres Orchestra performed for clubs and organizations from American Legion’s to Masonic Orders, churches, ethnic clubs and everything in-between.”

“In later years, he found himself playing third generation weddings for many families. Weekends, for over 40 years, usually consisted of five jobs – Friday night, Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening.”
