Soul band from Ellicott City. Seen at St. Peter’s Church on Rogers Avenue, Atholton Swim Club, Columbia Teen Center, Ellicott City Lions Club… On November 11, 1967 the Barons placed second (behind the Horde) at the Mount Hebron Hullaballoo.

Members of the band were Bob King (lead vocals ex-Marquis), Robin Nuss (bass), Mike Amos (guitar), Pete Stretmater, Mickey Mann (ex-Viscounts), Steve Dellavecchia (drums), Mike Francis, and Carl Salas (sax ex-Ardvarks). Former members also included Steve O’Heim, Tom Redding (trombone), and Mike Mathias (bass)…

By January 1968 the line-up had changed with Dellavecchi and Salas leaving, being replaced with Phil Garrett (drums), Bob Thomas (sax), and Bill Neil (trombone). This line-up performed in the Teen Fair Battle of the Bands at the Civic Center in June 1968, Woodlawn High’s Teen Fling, and at a St. Paul’s CYO Battles of the Bands in Clarksville.

Mathias went on to play for the Radicals, A New Day, Trilogy… Thomas member of Catalyst Project in ‘90s…
