Originally known as Dow Jones & the Industrials until realizing that another band was using the name, the group became the Fallstaff Five Plus Two named after the Fallstaff Road address of leader Paul Naden. Members included Naden (cornet), John Blegan (clarinet), John Wessner (trombone ex-Bay City 7), Sig Seidenman (tuba ex-Bay City 7), Jay Wachter (banjo ex-Gangplank Ragtime Band), Frank Wiedefeld (tuba) later replaced with Giff Blaylock (tuba ex-Gangplank Ragtime Band), Lucy Myers (washboard)…
The group performed at the Baltimore City Fair, Tyson Place, Cross Key’s Inn, Baltimore Zoo, Baltimore Oriole’s games… They opened for Benny Goodman, and performed special shows for the Governor of Maryland…
A member of the Potomac River Jazz Club, their 1980 recording of “My Honey’s Lovin’ Arms” was included on the PJRC 001 album.
Wiedefeld later with the Strawhatters, and the Paramount Orchestra… Blaylock was also a member of the Strawhatters Band, Last Chance…
