Cash and Gordon became involved with music as committee members on the Buddy Deane Show. Cash became a premier independent record promotion man in the Baltimore / D.C. region and established a business called Active Industry Research (AIR) to augment promotional efforts by major labels.
Once working from an office at ITI Studios, Gordon eventually became a branch manager in L.A. for WEA (Warner-Elektra-Asylum). Working for WEA he was responsible for getting many records on the radio.
Cash, Gordon, and another Buddy Deane Committee alumnus Ed DeJoy were involved with numerous Baltimore area recordings during the ‘60s and ‘70s with their B.O.F. (Built On Friendship) Talent and Cascargo Music, Inc. Cascargo Music published and produced recordings on the Chariot label by artists including Bob Brady & the Con Chords, Pen Lucy, and Coyote. They produced a record by Baltimore Bullet basketball star Gus Johnson “What’s Happening” b/w “Three Point Play” (Chariot 1125). B.O.F. also published the 1973 Bob Brady / Joe Cash novelty song “Football Widow Wife” b/w “Until the Morning Comes” (Bang 506) as sung by Atlanta based female vocalist Turner Rice.
Several demo singles by Cash and Gordon were also released. Songs written by Sam Egorin and Stuart Levy. The artists are as yet unknown. Both sides of Cascargo 3505 feature female vocals.

Cash found success with his Columbia based survey company sending the latest recordings out to DJs across the country to rate the records. The surveys were tabulated and sent back to the record companies, thus helping to decide which recordings to mass-produce.
