A top D.C. group also seen in the Baltimore area at venues such as the Hampton Teen Center, and the Zoo in Brooklyn.

Over the years the group featured many prominent musicians. Originally known as the Hi-Boys, they changed their name in 1964 to cash in on the British invasion. The original members were Bobby Howard (rhythm guitar / harmonica), Junior Gill (bass), Mike Kennedy (drums), and Roy Buchanan (lead guitar).
In 1964 the band went to New York to record. They cut their first record on the Try label. Soon afterwards Roy left the band and was replaced with Jimmy Carter. A 1965 single on Charger Records featured Bobby, Jimmy, along with new members Ronnie Welborne (bass), and Gary Kingery (drums). Jimmy eventually left to join the D.C. group the Telstars (who recorded on Columbia).
In 1967 the band released the single “Shake.” Guitarist John Hall was briefly a member in 1967 (later moving on to New Jersey where he formed the bands Kangaroo, and Orleans). Bobby also left the group – joining the Mad Hatters, and then the D.C. band the Sweet who released a couple singles on Smash Records.
