Originally from Tennessee, Fred Walker arrived in Baltimore for treatment of wounds he suffered in World War I. He ultimately remained in Baltimore and went on to open his namesake music store in the 1930’s that he operated until retiring in 1972. The store at 327 N. Howard Street was exclusive Gibson dealer for Baltimore. It was the place to buy musical instruments and records by your favorite artists.
