Tom King & the Starfires were actually from Cleveland. They were sent to Baltimore by DJ Sid Lawrence to record with WITH DJ Jack Gale. Gale had previously worked with Lawrence in Cleveland. He worked with the band and produced a single on his own Baltimore based Rescue label and published by Jalo Music.
In the mid-’60s the Starfires went on to become known as the Outsiders, whose song “Time Won’t Let Me” reached the national Top-10 charts in 1966 on Capitol Records.
