Guitarist – started out with popular south Carroll County band Spectrum, and went on to Cat & the Burglars, Alloy, Hectic Red. Hectic Red celebrated 20 years together in 2007.
In 1987 Ben was featured in Guitar Player Magazine’s “Spotlight on New Talent.” In the ’00s Ben played in a variety band called Hero and continued to perform locally as a solo guitarist/vocalist. He could be seen at The North Star Lounge in Reisterstown, Johannson’s in Westminster. He developed a reputation for being able to fill in on short notice with a wide variety of local bands who need a temporary guitarist, notably in 2001 with Great Train Robbery. Ben also appears on recordings with Jim Allison.
When not playing Ben teaches guitar at Coffey Music in Westminster, and Ben says, “occasionally I also eat and sleep (laughs).”
In 1993 Ben joined the band XYZ with Jeff Avery (guitar ex-GTR), Angelo Cammarata (bass), and Carl Hupp (drums -ex-Alloy). The quartet played local clubs a couple nights a week and did studio recordings that were eventually released as Sherman’s first ‘solo’ album “First Light.” Danny Grim (bass, keyboards –Hectic Red) joined the group in 1994, replacing Cammarata, and the trio of Sherman, Grim, and Hupp eventually became known as KGB (1996-97).
Ben’s recorded works include the 1997 CD “First Light” featuring all instrumental jazz-rock fusion utilizing the trio called XYZ.

A 2001 album by The Lindon-Sherman Flute and Guitar Duo “A Wedding Sampler” features classical and easy listening music, and in 2002 the album “One Mind” by the high energy jazz-fusion trio Sherman / Resto / Young, a group formed to support the “First Light” CD featuring Sherman with Angel Resto (bass), and Frank Young (drums ex-Junkyard Saints).
