Born in Brooklyn, New York. As a young teenager his family moved to Baltimore where they lived in a neighborhood near Roland Park. He attended the Baltimore School for the Performing Arts and studied dance and acting. By age 15 his family moved to Oakland, California where he eventually began his musical career. He joined the rap group Digital Underground as a dancer, and soon released his first solo album as a vocalist which launched him into rap music stardom. His life was ended by gunshot in 1996.
