The Baltimore Polkaholics LP liner notes by former member Ray Dudek “….what started out as a temporary get-together has matured into a fine musical treat at parties and dance for the last several years… The nucleus, Rich Charney and Al Matousek (accordions, vocals), individually very successful night club personalities in the Baltimore area, were brought together as a team when the late Bill Eisenrauch and his lovely wife, Helen, who were planning their wedding reception, insisted on having both Al and Rich provide the music. So, with the addition of a cordovox player and a drummer, the Baltimore Polkaholics were born… Since then, Ted Zarzycki has replaced the original drummer, and his son, Joe Zarzycki (trumpet), was added to enhance the already popular vibrant yet mellow sounds of the group… The smooth playing of special effect percussion instruments by Roland Jewer gives that added special sound…”
Members Al (accordion, vocals), Rich (accordion), Joe (trumpet, trombone, vocals), Ted (drums), Roland (percussion), and special guest Ray Dudek (vocals, drums).
