Singer songwriter keyboardist. Mauler wrote the music for a modern version of Aristophanes’ play “The Birds,” turning it into a musical. The production was put on by Arundel Senior High School. Mauler’s well-known song “Jessup Greaser” (a light hearted answer to Merl Haggard’s “Okie from Muscogee”) actually beat out John Lennon’s “Imagine” for Senior class song also at Arundel Sr. High.
Mauler went on to join Today’s People, and other local bands. By the early 1980s Mauler was known as Georgie Jessup, and by ‘90s had become a transgender musician, whose musicianship and works were critically acclaimed and nominated for many WAMA awards.
