R&B vocal harmony group from East Baltimore. Originally formed in 1952 as The Val-Tones (see bio).

The group, consisting of vocalists Percy Cosby, Thomas Smith, William Kennedy, and Joseph Wiggins was ‘discovered’ by Henry Stone, A&R man for DeLuxe Records.

The Val-Tones released a single in 1955 on Deluxe Records. Later known as The Baltineers, they released singles on New York label Teenage Records.
