Soul group was actually the Summer’s Misfits (see bio) while working as house band at the Club Venus in 1968. With the addition of additional lead vocalist Alana Shor (ex-Scottsmen) as the seventh member, the group assumed the name Magnificent Seven. Shor split vocal duties with Gary Raines, while the band consisted of Don McCleary aka ‘Deets’ (guitar), Warren Krause (bass), John Kramer (organ), Barry Karow (sax), and Steve Kiel (drums).

By the end of 1968 they had returned to their original format and resumed the name Summer’s Misfits. Shor, Raines and Kiel were later with Paper Cup…
