Grunge punk rock band formed in 1991 by Berserk/Bazooka Joe manager and Merkin Records employee David Koslowski (vocals, guitar), along with Colin Preston (bass, vocals), Stefan Myers aka John Stefan (guitar, vocals ex-Mooncalves), and Eric Dixon (drums ex-Cave Slags). In mid-‘90s Myers was replaced by Michael Starr Gaitley (ex-Bulk Mulch).
A very driven band, they played their first show with bands Berserk and Broad at The Jar, a loft space in downtown Baltimore, and their second show was in Boston the next weekend. A continuous string of shows, tours, and releases followed for the next five years. Locally they often played Memory Lane in South Baltimore.
Liquor Bike released split singles in 1993 with Cincinnati group Feeder, and in 1994 with Baltimore group W.O.D. Their song “Swallow Me was included on the 1993 Reptilian/Kwality comp “Baltimore, The City That Breeds, “Money Pocket” included on 1994 Kwality comp “Baltimore Volume II,” and “Plain to See” included on 1994 comp “Echoes from The Nation’s Capital” (Third World Underground Records).
The band broke up in 1996. Koslowski relocated to North Carolina with Gerty. Eric Dixon went on to play in Stress Magnets, Lee Harvey Keitel Band, Meatjack, Twin Six, Martians… Myers went on to form Gill (see bio). Gaitley later with Molly, Chaser… Preston went on to Lesser…
Liquor Bike reunited in March of 1998 to celebrate the long-awaited release of their third full-length CD “The Beauty of Falling Apart.” They continued to play occasional reunion shows including a ten-year anniversary show for their 1998 CD.
