Rock band formed at the Nuthouse in 1968 by Mark Neary (guitar ex-Ravins), with Bob North (lead vocals ex-Grim Reapers), Ed ‘Steady Eddy’ Grey (bass), Vince Chris (drums), and managed by WCAO’s Johnny Dark.
According to Bob North, “Mark was one of Baltimore’s premier guitar players in the ‘60s and influenced guys like Tony Sciuto, Carl Filipiak, and Craig Krixer, as well as others. After hearing me sing a Hendrix song he asked me if I wanted to form a new band. Mark had gotten a promotional copy of Led Zeppelin’s first album and we were able to do Zeppelin before anyone else… While playing the Nuthouse other musicians started coming in to jam with us like Eric Rose, Jerry Nitzberg, Rusty Steele and many others. I wrote with Michael Sciuto for a while after that in 1970 having gained experience and started doing rock promotions at about the same time putting together a few large concerts at CCB while in college in the late ‘60s to help draw an audience for the Civil Rights Movement and anti Viet Nam War protest. I did a string of rock promotions on the Port Welcome in the ‘70s, the first being called The Buttercup Review featuring Tony Sciuto’s band. In 1980 I did an Evening Magazine album release concert at Cameo Hall for Tony’s “Island Nights” Epic Records release. My last big promotion was a Katrina benefit in 2005 and featured over 80 of Baltimore’s top musicians.”
