R&B group formed in 1953 at Harriet Tubman High School in Howard County. The Imperials played Baltimore and D.C. area venues.
Members Edward Arter (baritone), Isaac Simms (second tenor), Wesley Young (first tenor), Thomas Simms (lead), Herbert Holland (guitarist), Isaac Stanton (bass), and Charles Moore (pianist). Joe Petrush (guitarist later with The Jamaicans.
Holland and Moore went on to play with the Vee Jay’s backing up Winfield Parker.
